This is a Mala prayer bead necklace with 108, gorgeous, 6mm moonstone and Rose Quartz beads. There is a small antique Durga silver amulet on one side and an antique, 7mm diamond marcasite bead on the other side. The Mala can be worn long or wrapped around the wrist 4 times as a wrap bracelet. It has a 15.5 inch hang or is 31 inches in circumference. Each bead is hand knotted in between.
The antique, Indian Silver amulet or "Patri" has an image of DURGA. Durga's name means "difficult to conquer". She is the invincible one, whose supreme wisdom, power and strength are used to take a stand against injustice. She rides a lion which symbolizes the courage to fight all demons and darkness, and she is also known as the Divine Mother goddess, protecting mankind from evil and misery.
Moonstone is the gem of the High Priestess and keeper of the feminine mysteries. Moonstone is a talisman for the inward journey, and meditation with it can take one deep in to the self. It can reveal to women their feminine power and their connection to the goddess.
The Rose Quartz stone is strongly attached to both the heart chakra and the throat chakra. But it’s not a stone that simply rests in romance. Rose Quartz speaks softly to all kinds of love; from healing communication with family to developing a deeper bond with spouses and friends, and even bringing sweeter notes of self-care into your own world.
By combining these elements, my intent is to charge each Mala that I create with Grace, Beauty and an Intuitive Wisdom of the Divine.
Whether you use your mala to count mantras while meditating, wear it to remind you of your intentions or simply for its intrinsic beauty, I hope that you cherish it for years to come! Since stones and crystals absorb energy from you and your environment, it is recommended that you cleanse and charge your mala from time to time. You can use sage, Palo Santo or leave your mala out in the full moonlight.
This Durga amulet is around 100 years old and has been used in prayer. You can see how the detail has been rubbed out a bit.
The Indian silver amulets and gemstone beads on this piece are guaranteed to be authentic. Beware! There are many reproductions out there. Please email me with any questions you might have.
