This piece has a rare, antique, Indian, pure silver amulet with an image of Durga on it. This amulet measures 1.5 X 1 3/4 inches and weighs 8 grams. This rare Amulet or "Patri" is give or take 100 years old and has been used for prayer, to invoke the power of this deity. It is hung with 108, 8mm Chakra colored, semi- precious beads. The necklace measures 19 inches or 38 inches in total and can be worn long or wrapped around the wrist.
Durga's name means "difficult to conquer". She is the invincible one, whose supreme wisdom, power and strength are used to take a stand against injustice. She rides a lion which symbolizes the courage to fight all demons and darkness, and she is also known as the Divine Mother goddess, protecting mankind from evil and misery.
